According to the study, Brexit will cost French companies almost 4 billion euros a year, with the agribusiness, consumer goods and automobile industries expected to suffer the most. The survey reveals that Germany and Holland will be the two EU countries most affected by Brexit, followed by France. In 2016, France exported €38 billion worth of goods and services to the UK, whilst importing about €32 billion, mainly in financial services. The authors of the study have called for increased support for small and medium enterprises, given that such businesses have more limited resources to deal with the implications of Brexit, and may therefore be more vulnerable. The report highlights that the success of SME’s is crucial for the French economy and to the chain of supply of larger companies.
