Pravda: Slovak Lex Brexit

The Slovak Parliament has recently shifted to a second reading called Lex Brexit, a law that responds to the eventuality of a no-deal Brexit.

It addresses both mobility and residence rights, social security issues, as well as the recognition of documents or driving licences. As Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini points out, Slovakia's priority is that, in case of hard Brexit, legal certainty is ensured both to British citizens located in Slovakia and to Slovak citizens in UK. The measures should thus enter into force on the UK's departure date from the EU and should be applied until 2020. Lex Brexit temporarily regulates the rights and obligations of Slovaks and concerns the social and educational fields, addressing young people studying abroad. Indeed, it recognises diplomas of veterinaries, health workers, doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nurses and midwives, who graduated in the UK. Among other things, Lex Brexit also provides for the acceptance of driving licenses obtained by Slovaks in UK.
