The CEA issued its comment on the Commission’s final report on business insurance. “It seems the Commission is determined to abolish the remaining sectoral Block Exemption Regulation (BER), including the insurance BER”, CEA Director General Michaela Koller said. “CEA however believes that the decision on extending the BER should not be taken on the grounds of principles. The full benefits of the BER for market integration and ultimately the consumers should be given sufficient weight.”
The Commission also draws preliminary conclusions in its final report on co-insurance market practices. However, CEA notes that the insurance industry was not consulted on this issue.
CEA therefore urges the Commission to give full consideration to the explanation on the functioning the co-insurance market before final conclusions are drawn.
